Happy 18th anniversary to Kevin and Madaline Jacobs!!
Birthday Celebration 5/19/2018
Had a great time with our gang at Arrington Vineyards to celebrate Debbie and Vicky’s birthdays. We had cheese, grapes, olives and crackers for starters. Subway sandwiches, chips and cookies for lunch. Homemade chocolate cherry angelfood cake for dessert. And oh yeah, we all enjoyed the great wines from the Kix Brooks (of Brooks & Dunn fame) owned Arrington Vineyards. Love getting together with group on a regular basis!!
At the Lake 5/11/2018
We had a FABULOUS time at the lake this past weekend.
Friday night was spent with the Whitts (Anita and Bill), Dennis and Pat. We grilled hamburgers and Bill’s famous Nathan’s hotdogs. Man! those hotdogs are big!! Oh yea, we also played Bill’s favorite card game – Oh Hell.
Saturday evening the whole gang threw a surprise retirement party for Ms Kim. It was an Hawaiian theme complete with decorations, leis, Hawaiian shirts and Hawaiian style food. Congratulations on your 30+ years of teaching young kids how to live. Time to take it easy now!
We ended the weekend with a Mother’s Day brunch from Billy’s. Best biscuits around.
Can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend. Great friends, great food, and great times. It just doesn’t get much better than this.
This is an annual event to honor Stacey’s nephew who lost his life in a car accident. All proceeds from the event go to a scholarship fund for the local high school golf team. It is great event for a worthy cause.
King Family Reunion
Great family reunion last Sunday (4/29 – I’m a little late with the post) with Stacey’sfather’s side of the family. Great food and great fellowship. It was good to see everyone!
Happy Earth Day
Lake Weekend 4/21/2018
You can buy wine on Sunday: Governor signs bill, liquor stores can open Sunday
It’s official. Starting this weekend, Tennesseans will be able to purchase wine and liquor on Sunday.
Gov. Bill Haslam signed the measure into law Friday, according to his office.
That means you’ll be able to buy wine and liquor in liquor stores perhaps as early as this weekend. It remains to be seen whether liquor stores will open this first weekend to take advantage of the new law.
But under the new law, sales of wine in grocery stores on Sundays must wait until Jan. 1.

► More: Gov. Bill Haslam says he’ll sign legislation allowing Sunday wine sales after Senate passage
The news comes after a somewhat controversial bill made its way through the legislature, including debates on whether there is biblical support for drinking wine.
The bill’s passage is to the chagrin of opponents who argued the Bible does not support drinking alcohol and to others who called the measure an affront to the state’s Southern culture.
But it’s a victory for the bill’s leading sponsor, Sen. Bill Ketron, R-Murfreesboro, who also carried the previously passed measure to allow wine in grocery stores.
In addition to the Sunday sales, the new law has several other provisions.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Liquor stores can start selling wine and liquor this Sunday at 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.
- Liquor stores can’t sell wine and liquor on Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter
- The new law requires liquor stores to mark up spirits by 10 percent and wine by 20 percent
- The first Sunday grocery stores can sell wine is Jan. 6, from 10.m. to 11 p.m., but they may sell wine on any holiday
- No additional liquor store licenses will be issued in jurisdictions that have issued licenses prior to April 1 or to applicants who have filed after April 19, until July 1, 2021
Congratulations to Scott and Melissa (one of our lake families) on their 9th wedding anniversary. We love you guys!!
What a great day we have had. We had the pleasure of being invited to a soft opening of some friends new restaurant. The Charcoal Cowboys BBQ restaurant in Nolensville, TN. It was so good to see our friends, wish them luck and try their awesome food. If you live close, go! You will not be sorry. They officially open next Wednesday. They have also won countless awards including the BBQ Pitmasters. We love these guys.
