At the Lake 5/11/2018
We had a FABULOUS time at the lake this past weekend.
Friday night was spent with the Whitts (Anita and Bill), Dennis and Pat. We grilled hamburgers and Bill’s famous Nathan’s hotdogs. Man! those hotdogs are big!! Oh yea, we also played Bill’s favorite card game – Oh Hell.
Saturday evening the whole gang threw a surprise retirement party for Ms Kim. It was an Hawaiian theme complete with decorations, leis, Hawaiian shirts and Hawaiian style food. Congratulations on your 30+ years of teaching young kids how to live. Time to take it easy now!
We ended the weekend with a Mother’s Day brunch from Billy’s. Best biscuits around.
Can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend. Great friends, great food, and great times. It just doesn’t get much better than this.

At the Lake – 4/8/2018
Had a great time at the lake this weekend with the Martins. Joe cooked some mean hamburgers and chicken breasts on the Traeger. We cooked baked beans and tater tot casserole to go with them. Although it was cold and rainy there is never a bad weekend at the lake. We missed everyone else. Can’t wait to see the whole gang again.
Snake: The Legendary Life of Ken Stabler
I am a big fan of Ken Stabler and always have been. He was one of the best QBs Alabama has ever had, but I liked him while he played for the Raiders. That’s the reason I wanted to read this book. This is a very good story of his life and times . . . and boy did he have some times.

Another Great Weekend
We had another great weekend at our happy place! We had new additions to our group, Steve and his wife and children and Chris. A lot of great food was cooked, thank you Joe. We had a great fire and painted rocks, thank you Melissa. And wonderful conversation. And Hilley made lovely cocktails for national cocktail day. I so love this place and our group. We missed Tracy, Kim and Tony.
Also, Happy Birthday to Ms Livia!!
This is bad news for the Crimson Tide this spring.

Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa suffers injury in Alabama’s first spring practice
One of the most-watched storylines this spring will be Alabama’s quarterback battle between Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa.
However, that battle may not take place for a while now, as Tagovailoa — who led the Tide to a second-half comeback in the National Championship Game — has suffered an injury in the first spring practice.
Coach Nick Saban confirmed on Tuesday night that Tagovailoa, a rising sophomore, has injured his thumb and will require some time to heal:
That obviously gives Hurts the edge this spring, but the competition will likely continue into the summer. Tagovailoa could still win the starting job, but this puts him at a disadvantage.
Saban added that the two quarterbacks had been splitting first-team reps until the injury occurred.

St. Patrick’s Day At The Lake
St. Patrick’s Day at the Lakes
Our family at the lake got together for a St. Patrick’s Day meal. We had corned beef and cabbage (Conrad), peas and pearl onions (Stacey) mashed potatoes (Tracey), Guinness brown bread (Conrad) and Irish soda bread (bought). Everything was delicious and to top it all off, Kim’s peach cobbler was “da bomb”! Stacey’s nightcap of Bailey’s Irish Cream (the Hancocks) with whipped cream was a big hit also.
We missed the Martins joining us. See you next time.
